Hello everyone who is reading my blog.
As you may or may not have sensed from my first line, I am in a tremendously good mood. Why? Because I finally managed to finish uploading my super power autobiography and my glossary page. Doesn't it feel great when you have no pending work upon you? It feels great! :D My basic glossary page is well on it's way to completion. I have filled out all of the words that we went over in class today and have left the others blank.
So, getting back to the real reason that I must write my blog. Class. Unfortunately I missed more than half of the period due to the fact that I was having my pictures taken. (I think I looked great by the way! Blue is really my color, don't you think?) Anyhow, when I did get back to class (which was pretty empty I have to say), our class was working on getting the definitions for the basic glossary page we are to start today. We were given a handout with all of the important words on. Based on the words that Mr.Arkin gave us, we were first to come up with a definition with our group, and then if our name was called, share our definition with the class. Needless to say, my definition was perfect and flawless. Just kidding!
After we finished that, Mr.Arkin wrote the real definition on the board which we were to copy. Whew! I think I broke my hand copying all that down. Ha Ha Ha! I'm just fooling! The last 10 minutes of the period were designated to the people who were unable to upload their glossary and super power autobiography live. I finally learned why my files weren't posting online and now have fixed the error. By the way, note to all, I have a new record of mistakes for my html validation: wait for it..... 168 errors. If this keeps going on, I think that I could possibly make my own Natasha's World Book of Record with my own personal section labelling Top Scorer of Validation Errors. (*thunderous applause and cheering*)
Anyways, I finally managed to upload every single thing that I need and am going to proceed onto my basic glossary.
Watch for my next entry tomorrow!

Glossary Update!
Today was a very hectic day. In class today we were working on finishing up our glossary pages. We only got 2 days to complete it, by the way. We took a few notes in class and while looking over my list I realized that I was short a few words which I instantly jotted down. Time mangement is actually a great tip that get's me working fast and helps me prioritize. Of course, I wasn't always like this. I guess I learned my lesson from the super-power autobiography incident which I still haven't erased from my memory.I have to admit that we have come a long way since the first day of school. Unfortunately, Filezilla isn't working for me right now which is why I am going to post my gloassary page up tomorrow. I'm exhausted and famished(I skipped dinner)!
I'll sign off now.

Vocab Woman!
For me, I guess the mistake I made with my super power autobiography is really helping me pick up speed in all of my classes. I am completing on my homework and tasks on time and I find that it is better for me that way. Just take my glossary page for example. I am finished my informal definitions, have a validated HTML and CSS and am on my way to get my formal dfinitions. It's amazing what fear of low marks can make a person do. Every time I receive a big project/assignment I think to myself that I will time manage and try not to procrastinate. Ironically, it's amazing how my actions also oppose my thoughts.
This time however I plan to finish everytime on time. Today in class we basically continued working on our computer glossary. More than 3/4 of the class was finished the informal definitions with validated pages. We spent time continuing to look for formal definitions, adding our CSS and other little things. I'm goining to sign off righ now because I am extremely tired.
Good-night!

The Dictionary of Computing!!!
Today was a very slow but interesting class as well. Would you believe that over time people have made a dictionary for computing? Well, okay, maybe not a dictionary, but definetely a glossary and special computer terms. That is exactly what we went over today. The glossary that we have been adding to throughout the three weeks was what we went over and reviewed. In class, we were to pair up in groups and come up with informal, or in "our words" definitions of our 28 glossary terms. At first all I could think of was, Oh great! Now how am I going to do this? But thankfully my group (Yu Chen, Laura, Monica, and Samiha), which was a little more than 2 people, was great and it wasn't so hard to come up with the definitions. I guess what they say is true, two heads are better than one. Cool eh?
So, our homework for today was quite simple and straight-forward. We were to create a skeleton (speaking of skeletons, Halloween is fast approaching) on a Dropbox account. Speaking of which, we are also supposed to create a dropbox account. Dropbox is a very organized method ororganizing all out files, documents, pictures, music and all. Goodness knows how much organization I could use! Last but not least, we were to write in our daily blog as usual! Nothing new there!
Anyways, I'm gonna sign out now!
Over and out!

Hello everyone! *dejected mood*
Sorry I'm writing so late. Anyways, boy have I got bad news for you. My website was perfect and I posted it live online. But unfortunately I didn't post the page with my link to the marking page. Unfortunately, when I went to post it, it was past 10:00 and Mr.Arkin had locked the FTP Code. And as Mr.Arkin said, no link to marking scheme, no mark.
Anyhow, on Friday we spent the period marking our peer's work and then we worked on our super-power autobiography. I've gotta say, Friday just wasn't my day. I even forgot to save my peers marking sheet as a plain-text file. So, I hope that Mr.Arkin will let me re-post my work.

A Fingernail away from a Fruitful Victory!
Hello y'all!
I am very happy to tell you that I am on the brink of finishing my autopbiography assignment, and let me tell you, it hasn't been easy so far. When I started this project, I was so close to ripping my hair out; that's how stuck I felt. I don't know how I ever go through this project, but I do know that I owe Mr.Arkin big time for guiding me throughout me entire assignemnt. This project required hard-work (and good listening skills) but it was also extremely fun. I really liked how I could come up with any type of super power andelaborate on it. I kind of thought of it as a creative writing piece; minus all the revisions and rough drafts *wink* *wink* I also liked experimenting with all the different colour combination and making my website more intricate. I have to admit, making a webpage is a teensy bit harder than you might actually think.
But, what I absolutely hated was having a brain freeze and being momentarily - or hourarily (if there is such a word) - stuck. There were times when I could just scream in frustration - right now is actually one of those times since I'm not actually done my autobiography. Sometimes I didn't know the right codes, while other times things got really confusing and messed up because I have 3 pages in my autobiography.
Anyhow, today class was dedicated for the sole purpose of completing our website - no notes, nothing. Only our assignment.
I have a little more work to do that will take me an hour or so, which is why I am going to sign of right now.
I wouldn't want my procrastinating to get in the way of my sleep now would I??? :P

Almost to the Finish Line!
During the first day of high school, I would have never beleived that I would be able to create a full-fledged website on my own! Okay maybe not a full-fledged website-but close to one. I personally think that I have come a long way from the first day of school and learned a lot.
So, today in class we went over the heirarchical file structure and reviewed small things necessary in order to complete our file. We also made a few notes and then the rest of the period was simply dedicated to finishing up our website.
For homework, I am completing my website and all I have left to do is touch-up my pages by formatting them all. It has been quite an adventure!I have a question regarding the assignment though! When it says 2 internal links on the marking scheme, does it mean a link that leads somewhere on my website or a link that leads somewhere on the same page?
Anyways, I am going to keep this entry really short because I have a bucket load of homework to complete!
Byeas! :D

The Client Server Paradign!
Sorry guys, I'm going to have to keep this entry very short, because I have a lot of homeowork. It's funny how I end up completing all my assignments the day before they are due. I guess I do procrastinate a lot.
Anyways, enough about me and onto class. Today we went over the client-server paradign. It was basically information on how the client and server work together to bring the page you request. It was very interesting because I didn't really know how the procedure worked before. I didn't realize that there was a big procedure to bring up a single page. Wow! Talk about a lot o work in less time!
We also reviewed the character entities and were once again told to use the correct form in our work. We then spent class going over other important facts and vocabulary like protocols, diffrentiating development and production directories. We also learned about color contrast. It was like an art lesson and computer lesson mixed into one. It is very important to have the right colour contrast or else it will be very hard to read the content on the pages. It is also just as important to have spacing in your work; that also helps the eyes to follow along and read the information provided on the page.
My super power autobiography is going all right. I'm just lagging a bit behind. I am complete my main page and am working on creating my 2 internal links and the layout of the page. I really have to go now, so I will sign off.

DJ Who?
I apologize that I couldn't write on Friday. The reason for that is because I was out of town and came back Saturday night.
Anyhow, on Friday we were in Studio 218. Mr. Arkin explained to us that every Friday we get to play music in class. Quite a treat isn't it? The only thing that we have to worry about is the music being clean and legal. So this Friday, DJ Arkin was in the house. He played a music from a group called Ra Ra Riot and the album was The Orchard. I have to say that the music was very good. I am beginning to feel that I haven't been exposed to good music yet!
Mr. Arkin also recommended 2 good softwares to download which will help a great deal. The first is Firefox and the second is NoteTab. We also learned character entity coded. This was a great help because I was wondering how to insert these into my super power autobiography. There is a helpful external link on the website that provides the codes for these charcter entities. It is very simple actually! A lot of the keys that are on our keyboard aren't the proper keys for the character entities that we want; quotation marks in specific. Another great thing that Mr. Arkin told us was that we can use our directories on the http://www.touque.ca/EC/ICS2O/students/index.html for all of our other classes. I think that is very helpful and a great way to keep me organized for all of my classes at Victoria Park.
Additionally, Mr. Arkin told us to read the book 1984 by George Orwell. I checked in my library but unfortunately it isn't available. So I've placed a hold on the book and hopefully will be able to read it in a short while.
My super power autobiography is going great and I think that it will be excellent. I have made a few external links and my story is almost finished. All I am missing is a few internal links and a few more finishing touches including the formatting. I'll update more tomorrow!

Back into the World of Fantasy, Fiction and Super Powers!!!
Quite a day today!
Oh, and hello!
So, today was very relaxed and simple compared to all the other vigorous and confusing computer classes from these past two weeks. We started off by taking some notes and definitions from the board. The notes that we took mainly revolved around basic time-saving commands that we could use the keys to perform for us instead of the mouse. I've roughly calculated the time that I have wasted on using the mouse and the total came up to 6 months. Yikes! Think of all the zzzz time I could have had. Snoozing is definetely part of my top 3 things to do when I have free time. I'll be more specific:
1) Snoozing
2)Sleeping
3)Taking a nap
(:PJust kidding)
Here's the real list
1)Reading
2)Playing Sports
3)Watching movies + sleeping tie for third place
Anyways, apart from a few people who unfortunately couldn't validate their index. html. we were all free to go work on our super power autobiography. So I spent the entire period adding more information to my project, which by the way is coming along beautifully. I'm in a bit of a jam(strawberry - Mmmm!) though. I'm not sure if I should use my power for good or bad. Any ideas??? I'm telepathetic by the way which means that I can read other people thoughts and see visions of the future.
For homework we were required to read the typography section on http://www.touque.ca/EC/typography/index.html .
As it turned out it was quite useful information considering that I never really gave a second thought to the way I used quotation, spacing and emphasis. (My idea of emphasis is simply turning on the Caps Lock button. Needless to say, Mr.Arkin wasn't impressed when he saw my entire index.html in Caps the other day.)In addition to that, was the usual homework; writing in our blog (which I am doing currently) and continue to work on our super power autobiographies.
I have other homeowrk to complete so I'm gong to leave it at this. (Anyways, most of you are probably half-asleep now beacuse of the "story" I've just written)
I don't want to irritate you to death so I'm gonna sign off.
Hoping for some help,
Natasha
P.S Honestly though, I wasn't joking when I said I needed help deciding whether to use my power for good or bad. Any suggestions are welcome.

Validating my Index.html
Hello to you all!
Quite a turn of events, I've got to say.
When I started this course I was very confused and I'm not sure if I understood anything at all much less be able to create my own website. Yesterday I felt as if I understood what to do, then today during class I was right back to square 1. And now that I've successfully completed my homework, I bleive that I am back on track again. Whew, quite a story isn't it?!?
Anyways, in class today Mr.Arkin learned that not a lot of people in our class had validated our websites and put them up live on the web. We we were way behind people from the other classes. So, our entire period was designated to validating our index.html and then getting it live for the people who hadn't done so. Quite a pattern, don't ya think?
Now, on to myself! Where 'o' where do I begin!
Ok, ok I'll cut the dramatic act!
There are some people out there who pick up things extremely quickly and then get the hang of it as easily as well.
Well, that is definetely more than I can say for myself. I guess I am a type of learner who needs time to familiarize herself with concepts she's just learned. I really enjoy watching the final peice of the websites I create. It's funt o know that I can create something that is actually live on the web (after I validate and use Filezilla, of course)
For homework, I worked on playing around and fiddling on my index.html.
I think I might have a record for the number of errors I had on my site - 17.
(?!?! Wait! Do I really want to go down in history for something like that?!?!) NOT likely!!
Anyhow, after a few touch-ups I succeeded in validating my website and then put the new file up in my directory.
Don't worry, blog, I didn't forget about you! (although I wish I had, considering the load of homework I had today - just joking!!!!!! :D)
I am finally ending my day by recapping the events of my day to all of you readers out there.
YAWN *yawn* *yawn* YAWN
Would you look at that?? I'm tired already.
Nighty-night

Hallelujah!!! I'm Telepathetic!
HELLO, EVERYONE WHO IS READING MY BLOG RIGHT NOW!!!!
I am very pleased to say that I, Natasha Jain, have gotten the hang of making a website and making it live (applause). Thank you, thank you! Really, it was nothing.
Ha Ha! I bet you fell for that eh? To tell you the truth it creating a website using html and css and making it live is a lot harder than you might think. It is definetely not a piece of cake. I was very confused when we started out this. I couldn't distinguish an html to a css. Thankfully, I can now tell the difference without a doubt : D.
Unfortunately today Mr. Arkin wasn't here due to the fact that he had to attend a funeral, so we had a supply teacher instead. We spend the period working on our super power autopbiographies and getting our index.html up live. Cool eh? You know, when I first started this course, I was exteremely overwhelmed with all the information that I was taught. Within the first week of school I was 100% sure that I was going to fail this course. I know this sounds cheesy, but at the moment I can relate myself to a sponge because everything is sinking in! Get it! Ha ha! (Ok, I'll stop with the corny jokes)
Yesterday, I had successfully created an index.html file and got it running live on the web. I am now very familiar with the basic and putting up a simple web page. I am now trying to familiarize myself with graphics, designs and other things (good luck with that Natasha *sarcastic tone*)
For homework, I am working more on my auobiography and am well on my way to finishing it.
It's amazing what you will find when you put in the teensiest bit of effort. I was exploring "Blogger" and I found an array of settings and design to change my blog page. I can now say with pride that I have accomplished something on my own without help from anybody.
Wait for it....
I HAVE DISCOVERED SOMETHING ON MY OWN WITHOUT THE ASSISTANCE OF ANY FREIND OR FOE!
I also find it amazing how comfortable I'm getting with typing down the events of my day. I guess you get more familiar and comfortable as time progresses on.
Oh! That reminds me, speaking of familiarization, I need to get back to the hard labour(just kidding) of my autobiography assignment.
Natasha
P.S I am a certified telepathetic.
P.P.S I know what your thinking right now as well; depending on who you are you are either thinking "Hmm. I sympathize with this kid" or "What an idiot!"

Oh! That reminds me, speaking of familiarization, I need to get back to the hard labour(just kidding) of my autobiography assignment.

INDEX.HTML
Phew!!! What a day! All I can say is that today in computer class I was extremely confused and went home a bit unsure of what to do. When I tried to make my index.html file live on the web, it failed. My file did transfer, but it had no information in it. I was in a big dilemma all right! I then explored around a bit and asked a few of my frineds and finally managed to post it online.
Today in class, Mr.Arkin demonstrated how to download Filezilla and make our html file live on the web. We took a few notes and added to our glossary. The rest of the period was designated to work on uploading our files. I am still a bit confused and unsure of this whole process, but I think that I am now understanding it all bit by bit. I hope this will be clearer to me as class progresses on.

My Assignment!!!
I am progressing very well on my super power autobiography. The only part that I seem to be stuck on is the internal website. I know how to get the link on my site, but I am not sure how to add information on that link.
Other than that, my website is half-way done.
I am also still stuck on the formatiing and am not sure whether the code goes before or after the content.

Project Update!!!
My super power autobiography is wellon its way to progress. I am stuck on some areas, but other than that everything is clear.
I DO NOT understand the font, size and formatting of the website. Additionally, is it possible to add a border to my webstite. If it is, what command do I type into the program.

My Super-Power Autobiography!!!
Today during class I worked on my super power autobiography assignment. Class was an excellent work period and I utilized my time extremely well.
I was able to figure out all the details of my super power and also get started on creating my website. I am now very familiar with creating a website and the commands and tags to type into notepad.
My website is well on its way to progress.
The only question I have is related to what to type in when altering the font and size.

Getting the Hang of it!!!
At first when I started practicing on Notepad, I was stuck. I didn't understand anything. But as class went on, it got a bit easier and I was easily able to create a practice website along with colour and background as well.
It was very interesting experimenting with all the different fonts, features and colours there were.
I'm still a bit unsure, but I think I've got the hang of it.
Right now for homework, I am experimenting a bit more on my practice template before I start my actual project tomorrow.

HUH! I'M LOST!!!
Today was very confusing and i'm not sure that I understood alot. :(
I am definetely going to need a lot of clarification and help. Today we were introduced to tags and more vocab related to computers :^O
All I got the hang of today was tags, body, heading, html and css. That's about it! We are going to create our own website and I'm very excited about that!!!I think it is very cool that a simple command can change the entire site :D
I'm just reviewing the notes I took in class and trying to understand this a bit better. :)

First Day!!!
Today was a bit overwheleming and all, but really cool and exciting as well. I think that it's awesome that we get to have our own blog and can add posts and comment. :D
I got familiar with the computer studies course today and what we'll be doing throughout the entire semester. So far, I've accomplished to create my own wikispace and blogger acount. And right now I'm on the way to post my first blog on my account!!!
I think that this computer studies class will be really good for me and that I will enjoy it.
